Master Lim Chin Kim

Lim Chin Kim was born in Singapore in 1941. Already at a young age, he showed a special interest in Kung-Fu. His grandmother and some of his uncles made sure that he learned a couple Kung-Fu techniques whenever possible. In 1954, Lim Chin Kim became student of Master Mai Zhi. He was taught by him every day, in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening. Lim Chin Kim learned practically and theoretically everything that there was know about Kung-Fu from Master Mai Zhi. Lim Chin Kim worked very hard on himself and learned rapidly, so that he mastered the entire forms, that he had learned from Master Mai Zhi within only a few years. In 1961 Lim Chin Kim and a couple school-friends decided to found a Kung-Fu school with the hope to offer young people a useful activity and shelter. The training-lessons organized by the Kung-Fu school were meant to strengthen health, force, harmony and self-defense. With the permission and authorization of Master Mai Zhi, a site next to a temple was encamped as a training ground. The quality of the training showed very soon, so that the training ground settled with very many students and the degree of fame rose.

The school moved in 1964 and was registered under the name “Nia Kwang Physical School” at first. In 1969 the school moved into a huge private house with a lot of space and was renamed “Nia Kwang Pugilistic Association”. The crush and the popularity of the school grew so much, that a committee had to be created in order to distribute the tasks on the members and students. Traditional lion and dragon dance groups were built and new Kung-Fu classes were opened. A welfare-department was founded with the aim to protect and to serve all members. Also medical was guaranteed to the members. Master Lim Chin Kim still teaches students today, trains Tai Chi every day, occupies himself with traditional chinese medicine and represents the Nia Kwang as the founder of the association.
